What is included in a Kirsty Freeman Design craft kit?
I try to include everything you’ll need to complete the kit, except for scissors. I’ve given an overview below, but this will differ between kit designs, so make sure to check the description on each product page.
Generally, kits contain:
Generally, kits contain:
Needle(s)
All kits contain one (or occasionally two) needles for doing the embroidery. If your kit includes seed beads, you’ll also receive a beading needle too.
Detailed Instructions
Including top tips, written step by step instructions, diagrams and photographs; you also have access to video tutorials to help you too.
Fabric
Cross stitch kits are supplied with 14 count aida. Felt craft kits are supplied with wool blend felt and wadding, some also include additional fabrics such as printed cotton or patterned fabric. Embroidery kits are supplied with linen or linen/cotton mix fabric, with either a pre-printed or pre-stitched outline - with embroidery kits you also get a piece of backer to double up with your fabric, this adds stability, density and is easy to stitch through.
Embroidery Hoop
2” and 3" kits include a coloured plastic Elbesee embroidery hoop. All other kit sizes include an Elbesee beech wood embroidery hoop, which are manufactured in the UK
Embroidery Threads
I try to make sure you will have plenty of threads to complete the kit (you will probably have some left over at the end to use an another project!). Cross stitch and felt kits include stranded cotton. Embroidery kits usually include stranded cotton or crewel wool (often a mixture of both), occasionally alongside acrylic yarn, tencel yarn or worsted wool. Please check the individual product page to see which specific threads are included in each kit.
Seed Beads (selected kits)
Many (but not all) of my kits include seed beads - I try to include plenty of beads to make sure you have enough to embellish your project and to add a few extra if you wish.
Bobbin of Thread (selected kits)
If your kit includes beads, you’ll receive a bobbin of thread too for adding the beads. It is really thin and strong, so perfect for fitting into the eye of the beading needle.
Ribbon (selected kits)
Felt decoration craft kits and mini 2” or 3” kits usually include ribbon to hang your project. This is usually organza ribbon or gingham ribbon.
For a detailed list of what is included in each specific kit, make sure to check the relevant product page.
Can I leave a review?
Of course! I love to hear your feedback, and as a customer, it is always so helpful to hear the thoughts of someone else too. If you head to the product page of the item you would like to review, you can scroll down to the bottom and leave a review. I know it takes precious time out of your day to leave a review, but I really appreciate it when you do, so a massive thank you!!
Do you use eco-friendly packaging?
It is really important to me to try and be as environmentally friendly as I can personally, so that’s something I am attempting to do in my business too. I have tried to focus on re-usability in my kits to try and reduce waste. Each kit is packaged inside an organic cotton bag, perfect for storing the project in, then re-using again and again. Each bag has a printed cardstock band wrapped around it, the card is recyclable, however, I haven’t been able to find a suitable alternative for the double-sided tape holding it together, so these sections will need removing before you are able to recycle the rest of the band. To post your kit to you, it is packaged inside a cardboard box and sealed with recyclable paper tape, as opposed to plastic tape.
The little bags that the seed beads are supplied in are made of plastic (I have tested alternatives, but haven’t found anything suitable for safely keeping all of the tiny beads inside the packet), therefore, I have chosen bags that are resealable, so rather than throwing these away, you can use them again for storing beads, snippets of thread, needles, jewellery or other bits and pieces.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Please see our Shipping Policy for more information.
Can I purchase just the pattern and use my own materials to recreate your design?
No, unfortunately I do not offer PDF patterns at this time, so the full kit is the only way to purchase my designs.
What if I love the design, but want to change the colours?
I love seeing you put your own twist on my designs, so definitely feel free to change the colours. You are more than welcome to do this yourself by purchasing your own threads to replace the ones I have supplied. Alternatively, I am more than happy to customise the fabric/thread/bead colours in the kit for you (this will generally include an additional cost of £15 to cover the extra work involved). If this is something you are interested in, please complete the form below & I can send you a custom quote depending on the changes you would like to make.
Can I commission you to design an embroidery kit of my pet or for a special occasion?
Of course - I love working on one off kits that are completely unique, so let me know your ideas for a custom embroidery kit! Obviously a lot of work goes into designing one off kits, as they are created from scratch, which makes them a lot more expensive than my normal kits. Prices start at £100, but are determined by the size, detail, style and amount of work involved, so please get in touch below if you would like to discuss a commissioned embroidery kit.
